Who are we?
We are a collective of HEMA scholars based in Marquette, MI. We’re dedicated to providing a safe space for the practice of Historical European Martial Arts for all, but particularly underrepresented genders and members of the LGBTQ+ and POC communities.
Where are we?
We meet every Sunday, from 6:00 to 9:00pm at the Northern Lights Martial Arts Center at 1310 Front St, Marquette, MI.
What is HEMA?
HEMA, or Historical European Martial Arts, is a term for Martial Arts practiced by various countries in Europe, usually focused on bladed and pole weapons. Ninth House focuses on German Longsword in the tradition of Joachim Meyer, Rapier in the forms of Destreza and Meyer, and Italian Military and Dueling Saber in the tradition of Luigi Barbesetti. We also occasionally practice manual of English Quarterstaff.
